Today, the Holberg Prize was conferred upon Professor Emeritus Joan Martinez-Alier, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, by HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.
The Holberg Prize is offering scholarships for five PhD candidates in the Nordic countries to participate in a Masterclass with Professor Joan Martinez-Alier on the topic "Political Ecology in the Arctic" on 7 June, 2023. The deadline for applications is 20 April 2023.

The process of selecting the next Holberg Prize Laureate is well underway. The Holberg Committee met on Friday 14 October to discuss the nominations for the 2023 Holberg Prize and the Committee members have now agreed on a shortlist.
